August 25 AshlynAshlyn Grace Hogan was born at 12:38pm on 8/24/07. She weighed 8lbs 11oz and measured 18.5" long. Mom and baby are doing fine. August 02 Baby Ashlyn updateHello, We decided to do a little photo shoot of all of us while I still can get some belly shots in. For those of you that dont know, the time is coming soon that we will be able to hold Ashlyn. She is making it known that she wants to come out soon by throwing me into preterm labor. I got to spend 5 hours in labor and delivery on Monday evening. We are doing just fine, still contracting from time to time but are taking it easy (as easy as you can with Jacob around) and hope to keep her in till at least 37 weeks. Hope you all enjoy the pics. April 17 Our baby is.....We are going to be having a GIRL on August 24th, we are sooo excited and just wanted to share our news! April 09 long overdue update. So Jacob is going to be a big brother August 24! We find out April 16th if this baby is a boy or girl. We are all very excited about that and I am sure this will be our last baby, Jacob keeps us so busy I dont even know what to think about haveing 2!
October 31 Big boy now...Jacobs vocabulary has taken off recently. He is great at carrying on a conversation with and can be very entertaining with some of the things he says. He has alo started potty training and seems to be doing very good with that at times but I do think he is a ways from being ready to go into big boy underwear all the time. But hey at least he is starting! September 07 My baby is 2!Jacob talks in full sentences and is 27 pounds. He looks like such a big boy. At times he wants to sit on his potty chair but has yet to properly use it. He is just growing up to fast for me. July 24 My first hair cut!Today we decided to give Jacob a hair cut. He thought is was funny and tickled his head. Here are some before and after pictures. June 22 My family is back together...On June 15th James came home from Biloxi (which means my camara is back too). Jacob now wont let his daddy out of his sight. It took him about 10 minutes to warm up to him at the airport but now its as if he never left. The first few days James was home Jacob always wanted to know where daddy was and to be able to see him out the window or play with him.
Jacob talks so much you can literaly have a 2 way conversation with him. His best friends are our neighbor girl next door Paige and our dog Barley. He is always wanting to play with Paige (I will post some picture from our recent play date, and no the kids arent drinking the beer it just looks like it and we thought it was funny) or throw a ball or frisbee for Barley. May 20 alligator farm visitDecided to visit an alligator farm today near Loxley, Al. This alligator farm has a 13 ft 850 Lb. alligator that is about 35 years old, this one set the world record for bite strength that was recorded at 2982 psi. OUCH... April 22 Hurricane Katrinahi all,
I am in Biloxi, MS attending school for two months. I thought I would share some pictures that I have taken of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
James April 15 April updateTime goes by so fast! Jacob is doing great, has been getting 5 teeth all at once and doing pretty good with that. He is learning something new everyday! He is even making friends, our neighbor has a little girl just 2 months older than Jacob and they really enjoy playing with one another. When ever they see one another outside they call out to each other by name, its so cute.
Today we went to the park and went easter egg hunting, he thought that was great fun even if it was raining. March 24 poor sick Jacob...Well it all started Saturday March 12 with a cold and everyday he got worse and worse to the point where he wouldnt drink ANYTHING (trust me i tried everyting) and kept running a fever. Then comes Wednesday and I could see that he was working to breath and I was also concerned about him only having one wet diaper the day before. So to the doctor we went and she said he looked dehydrated and among other things said she wanted to admit him to the hospital. So one night and 2 full days Jacob and I were at the hospital (daddy was there most of the time to but got to sleep at home) where they placed an IV,did a chest xray and ran some tests, then we find out he has RSV (which is not something to mess around with). Once we got home with him he was put on breathing treatments every four hours, which I think it's safe to say he did not like! Anyhow, today he is feeling much better and we have stopped the treatments. As of yesterday he was running around the house with his dad and sliding down the stairs on a big teddybear!
I can not even begin to tell you how heartbreaking it is to see your little one soooo sick! We took some photos of him in the hospital (where he goes so does the camera) so you all can see poor sick Jacob. March 13 Overdue updateSo much has been going on at the Hogan home, it's time for an update!
As many of you know, Jacob had his right eye tear duct unblocked on Febuary 16th. What a day that was! Luckily the procedure was quick and he was only away from us for about 20 minutes. The hardest part of his recovery was helping him to wake up from his anesthesia. He was so disoriented and unconsolable, thankfully that lasted only 10 minutes but it felt like forever. He has rebounded from that very well. Later that day he was running around the house and playing. That reminds me, Jacob is going to grow up to be a track star (just like his dad was in highschool) he is quick on his feet now and enjoys running away from me.
Jacob and I have become very active, in addition to going to MOPS twice a month, we also go every Tuesday morning to a play group called toddler time at our community center, Tuesday and Thursday evening he has swim lessons and the first friday of the month is "free day" at the childrens museum in Tacoma. Once the swim lessons are over we are going to start going to gym time so he can bounce on the trampoline and play in the foam pit.
His newest thing to do is collect all the pillows off the couches and make himself forts to crawl through or stand on. He is very entertaining for me and keeps us happy and busy. February 09 California trip 2/2-2/7Jacob and I (Jennifer) went to California to visit our friends. We had a great time as you can tell by the pictures. Jacob's friend Abbi who is 2 taught him many new things, for example he now knows how to climb up on the furniture, shake his butt while dancing, sign language for "more" and "eat", and use a fork while eating . I probably have forgotten some. It was great to watch the kids dance around and play so well together. I also had a wonderful time visiting with my friend Bobbi and had a brief visit with Heidi. January 09 Walking out of 2005Jacob has finally done it, just barely. He decided that 2005 was a good year to start walking. On the evening of Dec. 30th he took his first string of steps. He was so excited, he started laughing and talking real loud. I was just happy that I had the camera nearby and was able to capture those first steps on video.
On Jan 5th he was able to get up from the floor to a standing position without any help, the first time he has done that. He has been walking around and around the house with fairly good balance.
He has picked up some new words, like cracker (his favorite snack), trees, and shoes. His pronunciation of the woord cracker is closer to "caca" which caused some confusion with the nursery workers who thought he was trying to tell them his diaper was full. HAHA. We even believe he has told us "I talk to dogs", we are not so sure about that, but he has said it a few times. The way he is with Barley, I wouldn't be too surprised. He is also able to point to his head, nose, mouth, ears and toes when you ask him where they are. December 25 Christmas 2005Today we celebrated our second Christmas with Jacob. He is starting to get the idea that there are interesting things inside of the colorful paper, but he doesn't want to put down a toy to open the next gift. He spends a lot of time figuring out each new thing. We really enjoy watching him open his gifts. It is a lot of fun seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child.
Merry Christmas everyone. December 22 dec.2-22In the pictures titled December 2-22 you see Jacob and I at the zoo lights. He liked to yell "lights lights" as we looked at the christmas lights (thanks Daniel for teaching him "light"). We also went to James' work family Christmas party were Jacob had fun decorating cookies with dad but as you can see he didnt have fun with santa. At my work Christmas party the only way Jacob would get near santa was if i sat on santa's lap too!
I recently got a treadmil (thank you James) and Jacob likes to drive his cars on it or walk on it himself but still would rather hold a hand and walk instead of walking on his own. He has taken about 4 steps though by himself. We are looking forward to spending Christmas with Jacob and will post pictures of him and his gifts. December 05 First fun in the snow.On December 1st we recieved about 3 inches of snow. Jacob got to experience snow falling on his face (which made him laugh) and snow balls. He seemed to enjoy himself and no he still is not walking!! November 23 Talking but not walkingJacob has really been doing a great job of talking. He has learned to string a few words together like "What is that?" and has one favorite word "car". He loves playing with cars and will spend all day just doing that if you let him. If you ask him where barley is he says "dog" and looks for him. He loves to play with the dogs. He is able to walk around really good if he is holding something, but if you let go of his hand he will just sit down. He has the ability to walk, but doesn't realize it yet. Soon enough i am sure.
That is about all for now, we will be posting some more pictures soon.
Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. October 14 Pumpkin patchToday Jacob had his first pumpkin patch experience and also a first for riding in a wagon. At first he was afraid of the pumpkins but then started enjoying himself. He also found out that they are not very tasty. Next year he will be running around there and finding his own pumpkin. October 12 Meeting Uncle DanielOn October 5th Jacob got to meet his Uncle Daniel for the first time! So far on Daniel's trip home Jacob and him have done Jacobs bedtime routine together. Daniel has taught Jacob how to say light and use a light switch. September 12 Jacob updateToday he had his one year check up with the docotor. He wieghs 19lbs 15oz and is 31 1/2 inches long. He is long and skinny! He is still anemic so we are increasing the intake of his iron supplements to 3 times a day and will have lab work drawn again in one month. We will keep you posted on that.
Also today he had his first dentist appointment. The dentist was very impressed with how well Jacob behaved while having his teeth looked at. He now has 3 teeth on top with another one comming in and still 2 on the bottom.
Jacob still only crawls but I really think he is getting close to walking. He enjoys pulling himself up on anything and walk while holding on. September 03 birthday partyToday was Jacob's birthday party and it was a great success. He had a great time and enjoyed his cake and presents. Hope you all enjoy the photos. August 30 Jacob updateLife is getting busy with having a nearly one year old in the house to say the least!
On August 10th Jacob had his first trip to the zoo with mom, some of her co-workers and their kids. It seemed like he enjoyed watching the bird show the best and watching the elephants in the water.
He says many new words now including his name and uh oh, just to mention a few.
The tooth count is up to 4 with one on the way.
August 19-22 we had our first family trip to California to see some friends and Aunt Toni. Jacob had a great time playing with our friend's daughter Abbi.
Now we are preparing for his first birthday party, unbelievable how fast time has gone by!
